8th Street East, Sonoma, CA - July 3, 2010

Walking Distance: 2.0 miles
Walking Time: 1 hr., 1 min. (6:50 - 7:51 p.m.)
Start and End Point: Side of the road parking, 8th St. E., Sonoma, CA (near Vineburg, CA)

Tonight I finished the last stretch of 8th Street East (from 20725 8th Street E., to Carneros Business Park). Because it was a warm day, I chose to walk during the evening, taking advantage of the later sunset times, and longer days in the summer.

From the moment I parked the car, I smelled eucalyptus. I parked next to a large row of these trees. It was interesting to see some green foliage growing out of one of the tree trunks. It was poison oak (!) What an odd place for it. Also some of the eucalyptus "berries" on the ground appeared to be in bloom (example shown).

Along this road was a mix of residential, commercial and some agricultural properties, and evidence of a nearby airport (see Learn How to Fly sign pictured).

My personal favorite sign was the spray-painted bowling ball that adorned a sign for a body shop (also shown).
